In this video we’re visiting one of Bangkok’s best markets for street food: the Wang Lang market. Our goal is to try as much new STREET FOOD that we haven’t tried before (which actually isn’t such a hard challenge, as we’ve barely scratched the surface!).The Wang Lang market is a very popular daily market and it’s located on the west side of the river in Bangkok, close to Wat Arun. The market is very lively and bustling and there are lots of restaurants and street food stalls between stalls selling clothes and all kinds of other things.

We tried a delicious variety of street food including Thai-Chinese noodle soup, mini pancakes, crispy crepes, Thai milk tea, fish cakes and coconut-rice pancakes. It was a great day! It’s a great market, not only because the atmosphere is nice and it’s usually very busy so there’s lots to see, but it’s also relatively easy to navigate the market, as it’s mainly down one long street. The main parallel street also has many street food vendors and there are some side streets, but it’s still very easy to find your way around. The market also has a very local atmosphere and we didn't see any other tourists while we were there, which made for a great experience.

We'll be spending a few weeks in Thailand, before continuing to our next country in Asia, which will probably be Sri Lanka. And then? We'll see!

Some background information on our trip to Thailand (travel in 2022):

Travel isn't very straightforward right now and there are quite a few challenges to overcome and entry requirements to fulfil, so you should always do your own research and check the current situation and regulations before you go.We're visiting Thailand with the "Test & Go" program, which was put on hold, but is being resumed again in February 2022. Check the official websites regularly to stay up to date!

With the Test & Go program we needed a negative PCR test to enter the country and we also needed to apply for a "Thailand Pass". To apply for the Thailand Pass we needed to book a Test & Go package with a certified hotel. This package includes a one night stay, a PCR test on arrival, transportation to the hotel and three meals for our stay. After receiving the results of this PCR test, we were free to travel around the country (as long as the regulations in the region allow this). 5-6 days after arrival we'll also need to take another PCR test (free of charge) and upload the result to the official Thai tracking app. Overall everything went pretty smoothly and we felt that the program makes a lot of sense during these times. So hopefully the program will be resumed soon!
