STORY-LINE:
A group of female soldiers from the U.S. Army celebrated with women fighters from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to mark International Women's Day in northeastern Syria on Tuesday.
The American and Kurdish women were wearing traditional dresses and dancing on local music during the celebration in Qamishli.
"We work with the SDF on a daily basis during our local patrols.. We wanted to make sure that we came out here to show our support for Kurdish women," said Amanda of the U.S. Army, who did not reveal her last name.
She wore a traditional blue dress and danced with the Kurdish fighters and locals.
Kurdish-led forces have partnered with U.S. forces since 2016 to fight the Islamic State group in northeastern Syria.
They are a coalition of different groups, including Arabs, Christians, but mainly Kurds.
The SDF runs the semi-autonomous region of the country's northeast that they carved out during Syria's civil war.
