A year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a new killer, who targets the girl and her friends by using horror films as part of a deadly game. A year after her mother's death, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her friends started experiencing some strange phone calls. One night, high school student Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) receives an anonymous flirty phone call during which they discuss horror movies. However, the caller turns sadistic and threatens her life. After Casey fails his test, her boyfriend in front of her. She is then murdered by a masked assailant as her parents come home. This murder marks the beginning of a series of bloody assassinations targetting Sidney’s social circle.
