The holy Jayanti of Anandneshwar Bhairav falls on i.e.Posh Krishna Paksh Dashmi, in native parlance known as Poh Ghataepach Daehum.Anandeshwar Bhairav sahib is not only the senior most Bhairav amongst the Ashtanga  Bhairavas of Srinagar city but also in the entirety of kashmir mandalam. HE is the Isht Bhairav of a large number of Kashmiri Pandit families, the erstwhile residents of Habbakadal, both across the bridge localities upto Dalhasanyar on one side n karfalimohalla,Zaindar mohalla, Dadi kadal, Ganpatyar, Badyar,Amirakadal,Basant Bagh,Maisuma n Naisarak upto Braikujan on the other end.The extension of Ashtanga Bhairavas was the total number of 64 Bhairavas, which once dotted the entire landscape of kashmir region. They work in close association with the 64 Ashat Matrikas n 64 Yoginis in annihilation of Asouri elements n restoration of the cosmic order ,if worshiped with utmost devotion n faith. The word Bhairav has it's origin in the Sanskrit words of Bharana, Ravan n Vaman,signifying the cosmic leela of Utpati, Sithiti  n Samhaar.In Kashmiri Shaivite thought, Bhairav is the manifestation of Lord Shiva n represents Supreme Reality n Para Brahman.All the 64 Bhairavas r under the direct command of Maha Kaal Bhairav, who as the Presiding deity of Time devours n consumes both the time n space. Kaal Bhairav shrine is located in South kashmir village forest area.Anandeshwar Bhairav shrine located at Maisuma area owes its name n origin to the ancient Mookshin Swamin ,which is an abbreviated name of the present day.
Today is also special as the most famous Bhairav Stuti was composed by Acharya Abhinavgupta in the holy shrine of Anandneshwar Bhairav as stated by him in the stuti,"Vasurasa Poshae Krishna Daeshmayam Satvam Imam Akarot...."An additional association is that it was today that Acharya Abhinavgupta entered the famous Bhairav Gufa in Budgam to attain the Shiv Vilaay reciting his composed Bhairav stuti.
