To calculate the amount of power a vehicle needs to reach a certain top speed, you need to know the amount of aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, and drivetrain efficiency. Drag plays the biggest role. The coefficient of drag is heavily influenced by the vehicle's cooling system, which requires airflow to offset the heat generated from the high power required to reach top speeds. Because electric cars are far more efficient, would they therefor require less cooling, and as a result more easily reach a top speed? This video discusses to find out!
