We have a fun one for you today! We made these lovely terracotta bauble ornaments that are going to be perfect for a vintage touch on your Christmas tree. Once you get in there and do the final detailing with white wax, and see all the details of those moulds really pop - you’re going to love them!!! First things first, we gotta warn you, that we purchased some baubles, but we did not care for them. We had to assemble them ourselves, they had an ugly seam, and they did not have built-in hang holes. This limited our design options a bit, as we wanted to cover that silly seam! Nonetheless, we made it work. But there are better products on the market, so we suggest finding something different than what we pictured here so you have a better experience. 😉 For the terracotta paint, we actually made our own mixture using a few colors. To achieve the terracotta color, mix one-quarter orange, one-quarter red, and half brown. You can do the same with other brands using basic colors. Get with your stockist, though - they may even have a terracotta color straight out of the can that doesn’t require any mixing. Pro Tip: For this project, you don’t need to fill your moulds all the way to the micro rim. Put just enough clay to capture all your details, and underfill them to get a slimmer mould casting to apply to your baubles. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, but it can add to the aesthetic, make them a little less bulky, and has the cross-purpose of using a little less material.
