A Kid Like David

On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, myFace hosted its annual gala #myFaceCelebrates - A Journey of Hope: Past. Present. Future. One of the many highlights of the evening was listening to David Cohen, the myFace Courage Award recipient.

David was born with Pierre Robin Sequence which impacted his breathing. He has endured 14 surgeries and faced challenges of bullying and discrimination as he fought his way into the service of our country. David was guided on his surgical "Journey of Hope" by the expert hands of Dr. Joseph G. McCarthy at NYU Langone Health, who presented him with the myFace Courage.

In this 3-minute video, David shares his story of growing up with a facial difference, the challenges he faced, and how the community around him played such a significant role in giving him the care and support he needed throughout his journey. Which continues to this day.

He is an extraordinary young man with a deep sense of conviction and a heart as big as he is.
