So this time our Big
So this time our Big Bull stock market podcast guest is Puneet Jaidka from the Guru Ki Nagri Aka Amritsar Punjab. As usual, our first question was when he heard or came to know about the stock market.
So Puneet heard about the stock market in 2014 when he was 25 years old. A person in the circle was working with a stock broker as a dealer. According to Puneet, that person was saying stock trading is a profitable profession.
Puneet is a from business family and runs his own business too. He also had a knack for doing something big to earn money so he thought why shouldn't I try it? Also, his grandfather who is a retired principal, used to purchase IPO's so the stock market was not new for Puneet.
But his grandfather, a few of his relatives and some friends in the circle suffered losses in the stock market so he was cautious before actually burning his own money. So instead of doing it himself, Puneed handed capital to a friend who used to do trade on his behalf on the recommendation provided by Puneet.
From equity, he jumped into futures trading and suffered a loss of ₹2 lakhs. For a few days, he decided to quit trading and focus on his business. But a fire was burning in him to learn the stock market and continue in it.
This time he started option selling and as the market was not volatile in those days he used to earn small profits. First in index options and then in stock options. But once he lost ₹2.5 lakhs due to a mistake of his own. The story is, that he sold a call of PNB at ₹135 and due to a piece of positive news about the banking sector it opened at the price of +₹200.
After realising his mistake he shifted to option selling in index. After this loss, he approached his broker and asked about the losses and came to know that he was doing dabba trading. This all happened in the year 2018.
He thought of quitting trading forever but those losses inspired Puneet to learn the stock market properly. He started watching YouTube videos, learnt technical analysis, and adjustments and perfected his strategies.
He started option selling again and for the last 5-6 years he has been a net profitable trader. He never closed a month in negative and earned returns to the tune of 50 to 70% annually. He gives credit to persistence and patience.
