Gran avance médico: Tecnología 'milagro' contra el parkinson y el temblor esencial

María Santos, 80, had stopped traveling, even going out with friends for coffee. The tremors that she has suffered since she was young, which had worsened in recent years, prevented her from carrying out activities such as writing, sewing or even eating properly. “Since young, always trembling, but so acute from 40 years. You can't have a social life, you're embarrassed. Even when I go shopping I have to leave the money so that they can tell me about it”, says this resident of Sant Cugat del Vallès, who suffers from essential tremor. The pioneering catalan hospital, Germans Trias, has carried out 5 interventions: three patients have completely stopped trembling and another two, very significantly. It is a neurological ailment that usuarlly affects hands, but can also affect the head, legs or even voice, making oral expression difficult. It is estimated that in Spain there are more than half a million people sufferting at some degree by this disease, whose treatment has been developed based on drugs or through deep stimulation, which requires surgical intervention and hospitalization.
