In this video, the apocryphal story of the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, who would reject heaven and paradise in an alternate reality, and was supposedly or would rather be sent to Hell,  is discussed. Various symbolisms and archetypal nuances are then observed by tackling the themes of this very interesting story.

Part 3: Becoming Redeemers Beyond Enlightenment; On Compassion and Empathy

8:04 - Jesus and the Harrowing of Hell
8:40 - Helping others even after attaining Enlightenment/Perfection for oneself

9:56 - Buddha staying on earth after enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree; Jesus staying for 40 days after Resurrection before Ascending into Heaven
10:46 - Redeeming others, not just oneself (Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio, Brazil)
11:36 - We might not be divine beings like Buddha or Christ, but we can try as mortal beings
12:42 - After all, we are all on the same boat (Katsushika Hokusai's Ocean Waves)
13:19 - End

When we look at the relationship of good and evil, of Heaven and Hell, there seems to be a divine correspondence of opposites. The concept of Karma (the universal law of cause and effect), consequentialism (consequences dictating our actions), and the virtue of doing good are also pondered upon in this thought experiment.

Furthermore, we also understand that enlightenment is not the ultimate goal, but that there is something beyond it - a kind of heroism beyond enlightenment and compassion to others (with empathy both to ourselves and our fellow beings).

We may believe that we are not enlightened ourselves, but it does not mean that we cannot continuously try to be; and we might as well help other people along the way as well. All these themes culminate on the video’s exploration of the archetype of the redeemer beyond enlightenment.
