Being born in a poor farmer's family in Muradabad, she excelled in studies despite her father died when she was just 12 years old.
Ilma faced criticism being a girl, that she can't do anything in her life. But proving everyone wrong Ilma got into Delhi's St. Stephen's College and from there she got a scholarship for her abroad studies in London.
