This video details the tilt-over crank-up antenna mast I use with one of my 27 ft Low-noise vertical antennas. In this video I explain some details on the construction and deployment of the antenna. The design is based on ideas I have gathered from the web and modified for my QTH.
The metal tubing for the mast and base supports is galvanized fence tubing from a local fence supply business. I used 3" diameter tubing for the base and first section of the mast. Smaller telescoping lengths were used to bring the original mast (not seen in this video) up to 35'. The current metal tubing of the mast extends to 13' and the 27' fiberglass antenna sits on top.
The winch/crank I am using is the DL1300A Winch from Dutton part #14362 which has a 1300 lb working load. https://www.dutton-lainson.com/ These can sometimes be found at Ace Hardware in the US. They run $40-50 US.
The tubing I am using for the antenna is four 8 ft lengths of fiberglass tubing from DX Engineering (http://www.dxengineering.com/) and in sizes of 0.5" OD, 0.75" OD, 1.0" OD and 1.25" OD. The four sections run about $38 total. I bought the non-split ends as they cost less and easily split them with a cutting blade on my Dremel tool and used simple band clamps to hold them together. You can buy them from DX engineering with the ends already split for a little higher cost. Very simple construction and I have had them up in various capacities for several years as of 4/2016. If you want it a little longer you could also add 1/4" fiberglass rod ( or whip antenna) to the top.
