Tajikistan is a country located in Central Asia. It is the poorest of the former Soviet republics.

Emomali Rahmon has ruled there since 1994 and imposed several unusual restrictions. Crying too hard at wakes? Big birthday or wedding celebrations? No, impossible in Tajikistan. There are also several limitations to professing Islam. Although 97% of the population, including Rahmon, is Muslim.
