capacitor dropper circuit is an un-isolated, low output current power supply which drops the line voltage using capacitive reactance. at the output of dropper circuit a bridge rectifier is used to convert ac voltage in dc voltage, then a polar capacitor and a zener diode is connected at output of bridge rectifier. i explained the calculations with practical circuit design and its analysis with circuit diagram. i explained the working principle and functional description using schematic and practical circuit design. we can also use LM7805, 7808, 7809, 7812 or 7815 voltage regulators to get regulated output
to calculate a transformerless power supply circuit we need to calculate the capacitance for capacitor dropper. for calculation we need to determine the line frequency and using XC capacitive reactance formula we can know the polyester film capacitor in 400 v range
