تُستخدم مصائد الأشعة فوق البنفسجية
تُستخدم مصائد الأشعة فوق البنفسجية على نطاق واسع لرصد و الحدّ من انتشار الحشرات الطائرة ومكافحتها في المرافق التجارية مثل المقاهي و المخابز والمطاعم ومصانع تجهيز الأغذية لإبقاء مشاكل الحشرات تحت السيطرة طالما يتم إيلاء الاهتمام الكافي لإزالة مسببات التكاثر المحتملة.
كيف تختار بين المصائد الصاعقة و المصائد اللاصقة؟
تستخدم المصائد الصاعقة الأشعة فوق البنفسجية لجذب الحشرات الطائرة إليها، ومن ثم يتم صعق الحشرات وموتها. تتواجد الحشرات الميتة على لوح معدني متحرك للسماح بالتخلص منها.
أمّا بالنسبة الى المصائد اللاصقة، صُممت على لوح الغراء لتكون أكثر صحية. يستخدم هذا النوع أيضًا الضوء فوق البنفسجي لجذب الحشرات الطائرة إلى المصيدة باستثناء أنه بدلاً من "الصعق" على القضبان الكهربائية، يتم التقاط الحشرة على لوح لاصق. وهي مصائد صامتة وصحية مما يجعلها مثالية للمناطق الاكثر حساسية مثل مناطق إعداد الطعام في المطاعم والمطابخ التجارية ومصانع الاغذية وغيرها.
الفائدة الرئيسية لمصائد الحشرات المصنوعة من لوح الصمغ هو جانب النظافة. هناك خطر مستمر من تلوث الطعام عند استخدام المصائد الصاعقة وذلك عندما يتم صعق الحشرة بالكهرباء (أو انزلاقها) ويمكن أن ينفجر جسم الحشرة خارج المصيدة مما يؤدي إلى تلوث الطعام. يمكن أن يحدث تلوث الطعام أيضًا إذا هبت الرياح باتجاه الحشرات الميتة المتجمعة فتسبب تطايرها على الطعام.
لا تزال المصائد الصاعقة خيارًا جيدًا للمناطق غير الحساسة مثل غرف التخزين وغرف القمامة وغيرها. تتطلب هذه المصائد القليل من الصيانة المستمرة و التنظيف المنتظم للحشرات الميتة من على اللوح المعدني والتغيير السنوي لمصابيح الأشعة فوق البنفسجية. أما مصائد اللاصقة، فيجب تغيير لوح الغراء كل 4 إلى 6 أسابيع، بالإضافة إلى التغيير السنوي لمصابيح الأشعة فوق البنفسجية.

How to choose between glueboard traps and electric zapper traps?
Fly Zappers use ultraviolet tubes to attract flying insects into the unit, before 'zapping' them dead when they touch a high voltage killing grid. UV tubes attract flying insects by emitting a wavelength of light attractive to flies. Dead flies are then caught in a catch tray to allow hygienic disposal.
Glue Board Fly Killers are designed to be more discreet and hygienic. Similar to Fly Zappers, they use ultraviolet light to attract flying insects to the unit except instead of being 'zapped' on an electrical grid, the insect is caught on a sticky glue board. They are silent in operation and hygienic making them ideal for sensitive areas such as food preparation, restaurant dining areas, commercial kitchens and other commercial front of house areas.
The main benefit glue board fly killers have over fly zappers is the hygiene aspect. With fly zappers there is an ongoing risk of food contamination. This can occur when the fly is electrocuted (or zapped) and particles can be exploded outside the unit resulting in food contamination. It can also occur if a wind or breeze blows dead flies or body parts out of the catch tray at the base of the unit.
Fly zappers are still a good choice for non-sensitive areas such as store rooms, garbage bin rooms, loading docks and other commercial back of house areas. Fly zappers require little maintenance ongoing - a regular clean out of the dead flies from the catch tray and an annual change of the UV lamps is about all that is required.
Glue board fly killers require a little more servicing with the changing of the glue board every
4 - 6 weeks, as well as the annual changing of the UV lamps.
