A patient's experience with knee replacement surgery

Gail Conwell, an elementary school teacher, was having constant knee pain and was told she needed to have both knees replaced. Wanting to complete recovery on the first knee as soon as possible, she forced herself to push through the pain of physical therapy, making sure she followed every instruction carefully. She advises others facing knee replacement surgery to make sure you're in the best physical shape possible before surgery, make sure your home is prepared and you have people ready to take care of you, and most importantly, maintain a positive attitude. It's all worth it when you can walk again without pain.
