How to fix a CHEAP UHF Bug, Spy, listening device FM

We got from an angry guy a "dead on arrival" bugging device he bought from one of our competitors. This listening device is supposed to work on the UHF band, and we were curious how this competitor sells these devices cheaper than us.

We've found several reasons:
The inductors were home made, using cheap copper wire. We use special RF components, and our inductors are mil. specs, shielded high frequency ones. They cost us $5 per inductor. The transistors were small power ones, pushed to the limit. The battery holder could use only ONE CR2032 battery (3V). A good, expensive battery has a capacitance of  about 60 mA hour, and the transmitter draws about 15 mA. Therefore, the bug can work for MAXIMUM 4 hours... however, the battery drops to 2 V in about 2 hours, and the "bug" stops working. The coils drove us crazy: the frequency changed during the test, and they are - as all the device - home made.
The solder on one of the crucial components was lousy. This was an obsolete component, cheap and old. No one use these components anymore, so they are cheap.
Our guy had to drill holes on the PCB, so the component will fit.
After fixing the bug, it got its real maximal distance in "line of sight": 100 meter, about 100 yards. The guy claims that the distance is 300m...
after 2 hours, it decreases to 25m and shortly "died"...
This is the difference between a cheap, home made device, and a professional factory made listening device, which uses high quality components.
