Original TV script from September 1957:
A couple of visitors to San Diego hardly needed an introduction. They arrived at Lindbergh Field at 9 AM Wednesday morning and were greeted by a contingent of Naval officers. Now, perhaps you recognize them,,,Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. The two actors are here to make a movie…a Hecht-Hill-Lancaster production called “Run Silent, Run Deep.” The rest of the company has been shooting background scenes in San Diego for the past several days. The party was immediately taken to the 11th naval district headquarters where they visited with Admiral Hartman, district commandant. "Run Silent, Run Deep" is a war story based on a novel by Commander Edward Beach. Parts of the picture will be shot aboard the submarine, Redfish. Wherever they went, someone seemed to be waiting for an autograph, or a group picture…Gable and Lancaster were ready to oblige. Following their meeting with Hartman, the group went aboard the sub-tender Sperry. Here they were presented with dolphins, and made honorary members of the submarine service.
Producer Harold Hecht is in the car with them.
