I made this video to illustrate the fix for a common issue with a C6 Corvette power top. Many owners have complained that the tonneau cover will hit or rub the rear window when passing by, only to have the dealerships tell you that either (A) it is normal and happens with age, or (B) that the entire top needs to be replaced. Since most C6 Corvettes are either out of nearing the end of their bumper-to-bumper warranty, this fix is definitely worth a try instead of shelling out big money. As illustrated in the video, it works perfectly for me. Don't let inexperienced dealership techs tear into your roof unless you ABSOLUTELY have to! Horror stories of larger problems after repairing the "rub" than they initially had are more than common. This repair is DIRECTLY out of an internal GM TSB that was posted on how to fix the issue. The official TSB calls for moving the screw 1/4" down from the original hole in the strap, although I found it didn't seem to be enough tension to pull the window back properly. UPDATE - There are 2 different designs of straps made for the C6 Corvette convertible top. The first set was found in Corvettes from 2005 to mid 2008 and featured a strap comprise of 2 parts - a leather strap with an elastic portion. Somewhere in the 2008 model year, they redesigned/updated the convertible top mechanics slightly and used the 1-part elastic straps I have shown here. These types of straps were used from mid 2008 through the 2013 models. If you have a 2005-2008 strap design, you can order new straps from GM for around $25 and they can be replaced somewhat easily. However, if you have the 2008-2013 straps, they are significantly more difficult to replace and requires removing the top fabric. I would highly suggest trying this modification first before attempting to have those straps replaced on the later design. UPDATE #2 - I sold my last C6 Corvette convertible in 2020. I can still offer some insight but most technical questions are going to be beyond my knowledge at this point. I am aware that this is a temporary fix, as the straps will eventually stretch out again. It's just the nature of the horrible part GM went with and never rectified the problem. If I do not reply to comments, it's because I simply have no answer or useful information to contribute. Good luck everyone.
