A beginning to end playthrough
A beginning to end playthrough of Big Finish Games and Atlus's 2014 retro throwback FMV adventure game, Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure. The ending shown is, I believe, the best one (but I'm not going to spoil it... if you'd like to, go ahead and skip to the end of the video) with the top ranking.
Tesla Effect is an amazingly faithful homage to Access's 1990s tech pioneering spirit and awesomely cheesy humor, and is more than worthy of being the newest entry in the classic Tex Murphy series (Mean Streets, The Martian Memorandum, Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive, and Overseer). It keeps the classic style of play from the original interactive movies, but the video quality is about equal to most BluRay disc's movies (it's probably better since it's in 1400p, but my monitor only hits 1080p. I wonder if it is good enough to not show any artifacting?), and the sense of humor is dead on. The story is just as goofy as it's ever been, Chris Jones' performance is on par with his earlier works, and the modern (though not particularly stellar) 3D graphics really kill the frustration that came with the old, super-pixelated objects buried in the environments.
Despite the game being quite a bit easier than I remember the others being, and I hated the logic puzzles, the game was an absolute blast. It made me feel like I was 13 again playing Under a Killing Moon for the first time. :)
Please support the makers if you like these types of games. This rose from a Kickstarter, and apparently Jones has voiced a desire to continue the series... and probably needs to sell a reasonable amount to justify (and afford). It's well worth the money for the trip down memory lane.
