What Does the Title "Son of Man" Mean? | The Messianic Title of Jesus

While many have attempted to reconcile Jesus' common self-title with the many instances from the book of Ezekiel, it is quite clear that "THE" son of man was a title for a single person, not a generic phrase referring to humans. The Son of Man figure developed during the intertestamental period and was  securely tied to the expected Messiah who would save Israel. Jesus was identifying himself as the Messiah with this title.
