https://www.RockfordChimneySupply.com presents an Installation overview for a Stainless Steel Chimney Chase Cover

Chase covers are an external top covering for a pre-fab chimney or a brick chimney. There are several choices of materials when selecting a chase cover, but only Stainless Steel or Copper will offer you a Lifetime Warranty.

If you are looking to replace yours, you probably have lightweight aluminum or rusted galvanized steel. The cost difference is minimal between galvanized compared to stainless steel. Also, our stainless steel chase covers have a Lifetime Warranty against rust, corrosion and manufacturers defects.

We use and recommend stainless steel for its strength and ability to resist rust. Our chase covers are made of 24-gauge stainless steel, or 20 oz. copper, with welded seams. Our chase covers include diagonal creases on the top to prevent standing water and increase strength, choice of collar height, side skirts, and drip edges that flick the water away from the chase siding; all are no charge options. You can order them with any shaped hole(s) or without holes. There are thickness upgrades to 22 or 20 gauge stainless.

Steps included in the overview of the Stainless Steel Chase Cover Installation:
Step 1: Remove chimney flue cap on pipe using a chisel or angle grinder. This may take some work if the flue cap is rusted.
Step 2: Remove the storm collar using an angle grinder. Carefully cut it off the pipe.
Step 3: Remove the silicone around the pipe. Make a cut around the pipe, then start peeling the silicone off.
Step 4: Remove nails in the cover side skirt, remove the chase cover.
Step 5: Pre-drill holes on the chase cover skirt for the fasteners. For the chase cover size in this video, drill 3 holes in the long side of the chase cover,  2 holes 2 inches from each corner and 1 in the center .
Step 6: Place a shim off the top center of the chimney before putting on the chase cover. This ensures that the creases will not sag under heavy snow load.
Step 6: Install the chase cover and fasten.
Step 8: Place the storm collar around the pipe over the hole on the chase cover, tighten the worm gear. Seal the top edge of the storm collar where it meets the pipe with outdoor silicone.
Step 9: Install the chimney rain cap and fasten with a screw to prevent it blowing away.
