SNCF Jingle and station announcement at Lyon-Part-Dieu station.

Clip recorded 30th May 2009.

The SNCF jingle was composed by Michaël Boumendil (born 25 April 1971).
Michaël Boumendil is a French composer and producer. In the early 1990s, he conceived the idea to create sonic identities for brands. In 1995, he founded Sixième Son, an`agency dedicated to sonic branding and is responsible for the audio identities and music design for brands such as Unilever, Huggies, Lada Autos, Samsung, Cartier, Dior, Lancôme, Baccarat, Carrefour, Enel, Vueling, Michelin, Renault, AXA and others. He is one of the pioneers of sonic identity.

In June 2017, Boumendil published a book devoted to sonic branding: Musical Design and Brand Strategy (published by Eyrolles). He has also contributed to Colleen Fahey’s book, Audio Branding: Using Sound to Build Your Brand (KoganPage 2017), as well as Laurence Minsky and Ilan Geva’s Global Brand Management (KoganPage 2019).

Boumendil's SNCF jingle has inspired the title track of former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's 2015 album, Rattle That Lock (2015). It was co-written by Gilmour and Boumendil, with lyrics by Gilmour's wife Polly Samson. Gilmour, in many interviews, has talked about the rare quality of Boumendil's work.

Gare de la Part-Dieu (literally "Property of God" railway station) is the primary railway station of Lyon's Central Business District in France. It belongs to the Paris-Lyon-Marseille railway. Train services are mainly operated by SNCF with frequent TGV high-speed and TER regional services that include Eurostar and Deutsche Bahn. Lyon's second railway station, Gare de Lyon-Perrache, is located in the south of the historical centre.

The station was constructed in 1978 as part of the new Part-Dieu urban neighborhood project. As the planners intended Part-Dieu to act as a second city center for Lyon, the large train station was built in conjunction with a shopping center (the largest in France outside Île-de-France), a major government office complex, and the tallest skyscraper in the region, nicknamed Le Crayon (The Pencil) due to its shape. Before the construction of the Gare de la Part-Dieu, the neighborhood was served by the Gare des Brotteaux. It closed in 1982 and its operations were absorbed into this station.

Lyon Part-Dieu has direct access to the Lyon Metro (line B) and tramways T1, T3, and T4. Part-Dieu is also connected to Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport via the dedicated Rhônexpress tram service.

In spring 2018, major reconstruction and refurbishment works began to rebuild the entire station and its near surroundings by 2022.[2] As of December 2018, the former entrance building has been already partly torn down.
