Patrick Connors, artist and art professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, talks with me about a show he put together:  "The Loaded Brush, The Oil Sketch and The Philadelphia School of Painting". Oil sketching has roots going back to 16th century Italy, but Thomas Eakins brought the tradition to Philadelphia in 1870, where it has flourished ever since.
