1.50 Firmware update allows Hero 8 Black to record 4k60 in Linear Field of View and there are 3 ways to update your GoPro.
In this video lets focus on how to update your camera to have the latest features and some bugs fixed.
As i said there are 3 ways to update:
1. In first method you have to connect your GoPro to your phone using GoPro APP, make sure that you pair your camera with the phone beforehand, if you cant do that perhaps you need to change your wifi settings on your gopro from 5ghz to 2.4 ghz , thats what works for me !. Once you do it just click connect to your camera , shortly after you should have some notiifcation about new firmware update, just click update and your camera might turn on and off a couple of times, if for any reasons it doesnt update just try again :).
2. Second method is to connect your gopro to your computer or laptop using a cable that comes with your camera. Just plug it into USB port and to your gopro. Make sure that you download GoPro Quik for desktop from gopro.com. If you already have this please make sure that its up to date, otherwise it may not update for you.
Unfortunately for me this method doesnt work i tried a couple of times just for the sake of this video.
Eventually your computer should see your camera and you should see your Hero 8 black in GoPro Quik desktop software. Just click on your camera and click update. :) its as easy as that.
3. The third method is to manually transfer a file to your micro sd card using a micro sd card reader. Take your micro sd card from your GoPro by taking it out from your battery compartment, then put it into your micro sd card adapter, and plug it into your Laptop or PC. Now go to gopro.com , and go to the bottom of the website, look for the secton Device, and click on Camera Software Updates. You will be asked to provide your Camera Serial number, you can find it easily in your GoPro Preferences on your camera, in About page. Once you did that, write your email adress and click next, you will see 2 guides on how to do it whether you are on PC or MAC. Just download the file, unzip it and copy that file to your micro sd card, if doesnt work then copy it in other location on the micro sd card, then plug that micro sd card into your camera, the update should begin autimatically while starting up the camera.
