This video looks at how to install Remote Administration tools on Windows 8. These tools allow you to administer servers and workstations remotely. RSAT for Windows 8 also includes Server Manager which was previously not available. With this included, using RSAT you should be able to perform almost all the same functions from remote as you can while sitting in front of the server.

Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT)
To install RSAT, you need to download the correct version and architecture for your operating system. With each new operating system that is released, new features are added to RSAT to help the administrator. In Windows XP, RSAT was called the AdminPak and only included a few tools like User Manager. As each version was released more tools were released allowing the administrator to perform more administration remotely.
Once you download the install file, it is a simple matter to run the executable and follow the prompts to install the software.
In Windows 8, once the install is complete, two new shortcuts will be added to the start menu called Administrative Tools and Server Manager. All tools are enabled by default. In previous versions of RSAT you needed to enable which tools that you wanted to use using the control panel. In Windows 8, all tools are enabled by default.
The Administrative Tools shortcut will open a link to the commonly used administrative tools, just like the tools found under Administrative Tools in previous operating systems. Server Manager offers the same functionality as Server Manager found on Windows Server 2012. Before you can use Server Manager on the workstation, you will need to add some servers. You can do this by right clicking servers and selecting the option add servers. It is just a matter of adding the servers that you want to use by using the wizard. Once the servers are added, Server Manager will contact the servers added and determine what roles are installed on the server and add additional options to server manager, allowing you to perform administration for these roles.
