Spider Plants commonly start dying due to watering with tap water. This house plant is extremely sensitive to a chemical known as fluoride that is in tap water. Most people find themselves using distilled or reverse osmosis water. You will know if your spider plant is starting to die from this because the tips of the leaves will start to turn brown first.

Another reason your spider plant might be dying is because of lack of sunlight. This plant likes 4 to 6 hours of indirect light. Even though a lot of guide say the spider plant is a low light plants it much prefers a lot of indirect sunlight.

When watering your spider plant you might want to consider a bottom watering method. This is where you fill a dish full of water and put the house plant pot inside that dish to absorb the water from the bottom up. This ensures that the entire pot is absorbing water and not certain areas only. Spider plants can sometimes not receive the necessary water to the root systems. Sometimes when people water using a watering can a lot of the water only goes to the outside of the pot not to the roots.
