Some aerial footage of Northbound and Southbound tows meeting on the north (upstream) side of Lock19 on the Mississippi River, at Keokuk IA
The northbound is 2 chemical barges and the southbound has 15 barges of mixed types.
We see how the assist tug helps the southbound to enter the lock.
Also a couple clips from around the area of the Geo. M Verity museum, the Ameren hydro electric power house (Keokuk Plant), and a view of the Des Moines River confluence where it enters the Mississippi River south of Keokuk.
Keokuk is located in the extreme Southeast corner of Iowa (tri-state area) on the Upper Mississippi River, at River Mile 364. The Des Moines river is the border between Iowa and Missouri, and the Mississippi river is the border between Iowa and Illinois.

Lock 19 is unique as the lock chamber is 1200ft. (365M) long by 110ft. (34M) wide and raises/lowers vessels approximately 38ft. (12M). Virtually all other locks on the upper Mississippi are 600ft. (183M) long.

Hope you enjoy, subscribe for more, and as always....
Thanks for watching!
