Installing AWE Tuning's Cat-back Exhaust
Installing AWE Tuning's Cat-back Exhaust System on the new 2016 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen 1.8t TSI MQB.
The installation process was quite easy and was done with basic tools. The factory exhaust is a single piece unit which had to be cut out using a reciprocating saw by the subframe area in order for easy removal.
AWE Tuning has a nice slip fit design which we preassembled on the floor to make the installation process simpler. Once all the exhaust pieces were in place, we proceeded to tighten one clamp at a time with one tech holding each section of pipes in place for seemless and non-contact to frame/body installation.
The adjustable exhaust tips were fitted at an angle to follow the body's bumper contour as seen in the final pictures. This was done for function of everyday life hatch use while keeping a nice look.
Overall the exhaust is nice sounding and not annoyingly loud. It is a deeper tone at idle and opens up under load to a nice crisp deep tone than factory.
