River Hills Mall (Mankato, MN) - a lively 1990s mall

River Hills Mall is the fourth and last mall I filmed in Mankato, MN on Halloween 2020. This mall is very lively and the reason that the other three malls have suffered. In the 1990s, several tenants left the other Mankato malls to go to the modern mall with a food court and bigger movie theater. I find Mankato fascinating as it's a mini-version of what has happened in other states where large cities become over-malled and only a handful can survive. However, unlike other cities, management of the old Mankato malls have been able to keep them open and healthy as mixed-use centers. Do you like my work?
