There is an abundance of knowledge in the Islamic tradition that can help inform our understanding of mental health and psychology today. In fact, the first psychiatric hospitals were built in the Muslim world. Islam encompasses a holistic healing approach, where the individual is viewed as a whole: mind body and soul. Dr. Haifaa Younis and Dr. Rania Awaad explore the Islamic tradition and the contributions of early Muslim scholars in our understanding of mental health and psychology from the Islamic perspective today. This virtual chat was delivered via the Jannah Institute on October 26, 2021.
