The Lagoon Nebula is a dazzling astrophotography target that never disappoints. Messier 8 lies very close to the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius and is a wonderful target for your DSLR camera. Photo Details and Tips: astrobackyard.com/m8-lagoon-nebula/ M8: The Lagoon nebula lies at the spout of the teapot in Sagittarius. If the focal length of your telescope allows for it, you can include the Trifid nebula in the same field of view. A truly unforgettable photo opp. The lagoon nebula contains both red emission and blue reflection nebulosity - giving it its signature magenta glow. The open star cluster, NGC 6530, that lies within the lagoon is the cherry on top. For tonight's session, I will be using my modified Canon T3i DSLR with a SkyTech CLS-CCD filter installed.
