Raglan Castle, situated in Monmouthshire, Wales was built during the late medieval period, around the 15th century, Raglan Castle was the seat of the influential Herbert family for over 300 years. Its design is a fusion of defensive features and luxurious accommodations, showcasing the transition from fortresses to comfortable residences among the aristocracy of the time.

One of Raglan Castle's most notable periods came during the English Civil War in the 17th century. It was a staunch Royalist stronghold, with Henry Somerset, the Marquess of Worcester, defending it against Parliamentarian forces. The castle endured a prolonged siege, showcasing its formidable defences, but eventually fell in 1646.

Following its surrender, Parliament ordered its partial destruction to prevent any future use as a military stronghold. Despite its partial ruin, Raglan Castle's grandeur and historical significance continue to captivate visitors, offering glimpses into a bygone era of chivalry and conflict.
