In this video we’re going to be taking a look at the Aurora A8 Pro from rovyvon which is one of the most compact UV-c lights you can buy that’s small enough to fit on your keychain. This is an upgrade to Rovyvons original A8. The A8 pro also has 2 4500k neutral white LEDs on the side and another UV light on the side giving you a whole range of illumination options.

Rovyvon reached out and was kind enough to send this light for review. They shipped it from Amazon and it arrived in about 2 days. This is the 3rd light from rovyvon i’ve owned. The first was the luminous body A5 which I reviewed in a previous video and I just picked up an A3 pro which I’m planning to do a review on as well.
The A8 pro is 2.38” long and has a diameter of 0.61” and it weighs 0.55 ounces or 15 grams. The body is made from semi transparent polycarbonate at it is IP66 rated and impact resistant up to 1.5 meters.
The main reason people are going to buy this light is because of its UV disinfecting capabilities.
Rovyvon states that the A8 pro can primary LED can disinfect by holding the light 5-10cm from the surface for 1-3 minutes and it can be used for 40 minutes.
According to the FDAs website, UVC lamps have been around for decades and used to reduce the spread of bacteria, such as tuberculosis. They are often referred to as germicidal lamps and have even been proven to destroy the outer protein of the Coronavirus which leads to the deactivation of the virus. UVC LEDS are also used in portable water bottle sterilizers.
I’m not making any claims that the Rovyvon A8 pro will keep you safe from the virus or make water safe to drink and I have no way to test this, just giving a bit of background on the technology. If you want to learn more about that you can do your own research.
What really makes this light stand out compared to the other keychain UV lights available is the side LEDs. The white LEDs on the side have an 8 lumens mode which can run for 8 hours and a 60 lumens mode that can run for 90 minutes. The side LEDs make this light a lot more practical for everyday carry use and the semi transparent polycarbonate body acts as a diffuser. There’s also another UV light on the side that can run for 280 minutes on low and 172 minutes on high.
Rovyvon also makes another version of this light called the Pro R which has a red light on the side instead of another UV light.
The Rovyvon Aurora A8 has a covered micro usb port for charging and charging the built-in 330 mah battery takes roughly 90 minutes. There’s also a charging indicator that will flash when charging and will glow blue when charged.
There’s a few things about this light which I don’t like. It would be nice if this light had a firefly mode of 1 lumen which would significantly improve the maximum runtime. Also, many of the other big keychain flashlight brands light Fenix and Nitecore have USB-C charging capabilities which is a better technology than the micro USB.
What’s really great about this light is that it's a high quality uvc light with a lot of great features in a really lightweight and compact size. Overall I think this is an excellent light if you are looking for a UVC light to carry on your keychain and the side LEDs make this light much useful as an everyday carry light.
