The 6.4 km round trip Pipiway is located in the Kipahalu district of Haleakalā National Park.

There is an access fee to pay: US $ 25 per car. However, it is valid for all attractions in Haleakalā National Park, for a period of 72 hours.

The trail begins at the Kipahulu Visitors Center and leads us first to the Route d'Hana which we have to cross because the trail continues on the other side of this road.

When we left it was raining heavily and the trail quickly became very muddy.

At the beginning of the trail, we cross an area that has many roots on the ground and, subsequently, we walk through the tall grass.

Then follows a series of stone carved steps that we have to climb to reach the Makahiku Falls located 800 meters from our starting point.

At a height of 56 meters, the Makahiku Falls are located in an enchanting setting. The vegetation is lush and forms a magnificent wall of green vegetation.

After a short break, we then resume the path that leads us to Waimoku Falls. We have a little less than 3 kilometers to go.

We pass a banyan tree, a very large tree with many branches and aerial roots. It is truly sensational.

We continue our hike in the forest and cross two small pedestrian bridges which overlook a stream. They offer a nice view of two beautiful waterfalls.

We enter a magnificent bamboo forest. At the beginning, the path is rather rocky. Subsequently, a wooden walkway was erected, thus facilitating our movements.

We then follow the Pipiwai stream whose waters are fairly rough and finally see the Waimoku Falls,

At a height of 122 meters, they flow along a steep wall covered with abundant vegetation.

There are also many small waterfalls that have been formed by the recent rains.

The hardest part was crossing the creek twice because the waters were tumultuous. We were not the only ones to have done this. But afterwards, I consider that we have taken a huge risk when I look at the water level and the intensity of the current.

We went to the foot of the Waimoku falls which pour with amazing power into a pretty basin.

Even if a safe distance separated us from these falls, we were completely wet by the spray.
