This video captures one of the proudest moments of my career so far. Bruce Welch personally invited me to play lead guitar for his group at Shadowmania 2012.
The event took place three days after the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report was published. The release of the document had received global media coverage, prompting the British government to issue public apologies to the families of those lost, and the survivors, 23 years after the Hillsborough disaster.
As a Liverpool supporter who had vocally supported the fight for Justice for the 96 (now 97), it was hard for me to fight back the tears and play the tune (watch me turn my face away from the audience as Bruce introduced the tune). Considering the timing, and the fact that Bruce had chosen the tune for the set months previously without knowing of my allegiance to LFC, it is one of the most poignant moments of my life.
