Firefighters rescued three people from a swollen river in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday after a flood had swept their vehicle into the water.

The terrifying accident, which happened in Yinjiang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County after days of persistent rain, left the three people - one male and two females - trapped dozens of meters from the river bank in fast-flowing water.

As the water level continued to rise, the man decided to swim downstream, where he was later rescued by firefighters.

Meanwhile, another group of firefighters used ropes and other tools to pass life jackets to the two females.

However, shortly after the two women had put on their life jackets, the water rose suddenly, washing away the vehicle and leaving them struggling in the water.

One of the firefighters jumped into the river and managed to drag one of the women to the river bank with the help of people on site.

The other female was pulled downstream by the current, but not long after she was rescued by other firefighters.

None of the three appeared to have suffered any severe injuries, but they were taken to hospital for further checks as a precaution.  More on: http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20160718...
