Now that your pet has had surgery, please follow these guidelines in this video:
-To help with the healing process limit your pets activity for 10 to 14 days.
-Keep your pet  confined in a crate or small room for the first 24 hours after surgery.
-If your pet shares space with other cats or dogs, keep them separated.
-Cats should be kept indoors and dogs should be leashed when let outside.
-Your pets appetite should return to normal after 24 hours keep to their regular diet, vomiting and diarrhea are not normal.
-Your pet has been given pain medicine. If it appears that they are still in pain DO NOT give them any further medications and call the Maryland SPCA immediately at (410) 889-7729.
-Your pet has received a small green tattoo near their surgical area which identifies them as having been sterilized.
-Your pet has surgical glue around their incision.
-Prevent any licking or chewing in this area to prevent infection. If necessary you should purchase an Elizabethan collar and it should be worn for 10-14 days post-op.
-Keep your pet dry. Do not bathe them or apply ointment to the incision site as this could render the glue ineffective.
-There should be no excessive drainage, discharge or odor from the incision site. Redness and inflammation should be minimal.

If any complications occur please call the Maryland SPCA immediately at (410) 889-7729.
