Protecting cereal crops against rust diseases

Cereal rust diseases caused by rust fungi remains a constant threat to wheat production and costs the Australian grains industry an estimated $200 million per year. We’ve produced
over 20 molecular markers to the Australian and international wheat breeding industry. These markers greatly simplify the process of identifying rust disease resistant plants in breeding populations.
