Deutsche Bahn is on the home stretch with preparations for the commissioning of the new Wendlingen–Ulm line. Train drivers are currently gaining experience on the route. With the timetable change on December 11, thousands of travelers will benefit from more and faster connections between Stuttgart and Munich every day.
The new infrastructure creates the basis for more attractive rail transport. In long-distance traffic, the travel time between Stuttgart and Ulm has been reduced by around 15 minutes thanks to the new high-speed line. This also benefits travelers between NRW and Bavaria, for example. At the same time, the daily range of long-distance services between the two state capitals of Stuttgart and Munich will increase by around 20 to 90 journeys.
Thanks to the high-speed route, there are many new, attractive offers in regional transport: With the new train station in Merklingen, an entire region is being opened up for rail, and commuters in Stuttgart and Ulm, on the Alb, in Tübingen and Reutlingen can travel faster.
