How to make Glögg (Swedish Mulled Wine)

Glögg the Swedish version of mulled wine is certainly a Christmas winter warmer that I would recommend for any lover of warm hot wine mixed with spice.


Ingredients (Serves 2-3 people):
- Half a bottle of red wine
- 100ml (3oz) of vodka or Aquavit if you have it
- 100ml (3oz) white sugar
- 2 teapsoons of orange zest
- 1 teaspoon of flaked almonds
- 1/2 teapsoon oif mixed fruits or raisins if you prefer
- 8 or 1 teaspoon of cardamom pods
- 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
- 8 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick


How to Make (Method):
1. Put all the ingredients into a pan and put onto a medium heat.
2. keep stirring until all the sugar has dissolved after 2-3 minutes.
3. Put on a low heat of 1 for 5 minutes to let it soak in the ingredients to give it flavour.
4. Turn off the heat and serve warm. You can do this my way of pouring into a jug or you can serve straight up using a metal scoop if you have one put remembere to sieve out the the spices left over.
5. then use a sieve to to pour from the jug into your cocktail glass.
6. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.


Glögg suprised me a lot of how much I enjoyed it and was very sweet but I do like red wine. Any Swedish viewers am I saying right as I don't think I was?


That is the Glögg the Swedish version of Mulled Wine for Christmas, next up is the Tom and Jerry in 2 or 3 days time.
