Chinese company Zonergy has built Cholistan Power Plant, the 100-megawatt solar plant in the Cholistan Desert generates about 150 gigawatts of electricity a year, enough to light about 100,000 homes in the country. The total generation capacity of the station has reached 2.4 billion kW in 2021, enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 200,000 local households. The project has created employment opportunities for the people of South Punjab. It has created about 5,000 jobs for local people, and trained more than 100 operations and maintenance engineers to work in PV power stations. When the foundation stone of this project was laid here a few years ago, there were only mounds of mud but today we can see a sea of panels here. It is now generating 150 megawatts of electricity and you will see that it will generate another 900 megawatts of electricity which will not be easy to compete in the world.
