Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Print Spreadsheets with Column Headers and Row Numbers | Excel Printing Tips.

Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast! In today's episode, I'm going to share a useful trick for printing your spreadsheets with the column headers and row numbers included. This may seem like a small detail, but it can make a big difference in the clarity and organization of your printed documents.

By default, when we print a spreadsheet, the row numbers and column headers are not visible. However, there is a simple solution to this. Just go to File, Page Setup, and on the Sheet tab, check the boxes for "Print gridlines" and "Print row and column headings." Click OK and then go to Print Preview to see the changes. Now, your printout will look just like your Excel screen, with the row numbers and column letters clearly displayed.

You may be wondering why you would want to do this. Well, there are a couple of handy tricks that this feature allows for. First, if you use the Ctrl+~ shortcut to show formulas in your worksheet, you can then print a copy of the sheet with the formulas visible. This can be helpful for double-checking your formulas and ensuring they are correct. Additionally, you can also choose to display comments at the end of the sheet under File, Page Setup. By printing the row numbers and column letters, you can easily match up the comments with the corresponding cells.

So, the next time you need to print a spreadsheet, remember this trick to include the row numbers and column headers. It may seem like a small detail, but it can greatly improve the readability and organization of your printed documents. Thanks for tuning in to this episode of the MrExcel podcast, and be sure to join us next time for more helpful tips and tricks!
