Today we continue working with the Chanel style jacket.
The design of the jacket is pretty simple, and so are the techniques for making the jacket.
I really hope that you like the design. I want everyone of you to be able to sew such jackets for yourselves.
We showed you how to make a pattern, how to cut and tack the jacket. We also showed you how to stitch the polyester batting to the main fabric.
Today we are going to show you how to make welt pockets.
I tacked the piece of cotton and drew the pocket of the camera.
The welt should be doubled with the polyester batting as well.
It’s different from the one we used for the other details. It’s much thinner.
Due to this fact the welt will be pretty soft when I double it.
Natalie will show you how to stitch the welt and how to make a pocket.
First we need to double the welt with a piece of interfacing material. When we do it, we’ll attach the piece of the polyester batting to the welt.
Natalie will show you what to do. Be very attentive!
The seams will be as wide as the sewing foot is. You can make them as wide as you want.
We are showing you the most simple way for making welt pockets.
When we finish tacking the seams, we’ll iron them from the right side.
Don’t press the seams too hard. They should be soft and beautiful.
If you don’t want the seams to be seen, you can make concealed seams by hands.
I’ve already showed you several techniques for making pockets – inseam pockets, patch pockets, welt pockets.
