Why is it that we can borrow from minor, but not from major? And is it true?
We take a look at chord substitutions for reharmonization using modal interchange, specifically borrowing chords from minor.
➡️  Today, we will find out why borrowing from the minor in a song written in a major key sounds so much better than borrowing from the major in a minor key.
When borrowing from the minor key in a song written in a major one, the notes of the chords will sound much more pleasant when they resolve than vice versa.

When we try to borrow from the major, it produces a jarring sound to our ears in most cases. Why? What if it were possible to borrow and still have our composition sound beautiful? Bach seemed to think so.
