Before You Go To BARCELONA, Watch This. I’m Rok and I’ve spent last 8 years travelling around Europe as a tour guide. In this video I want to share with you my Barcelona Travel Tips that will make your travel to capital of Catalonia, Spain much easier. You will learn what to expect from Barcelona. Then I will quickly cover most important events in Barcelona's history. Next I will explain what is the best way to buy tickets for main attractions. I will also talk about safety and language. Next I will cover where would be the best hotel location for exploring the city. I will also cover Barcelona public transport and how to get around the city. And lastly I will give you practical tips and ideas that might help you if you visit Barcelona.
Barcelona is second biggest city in Spain and it's also a capital of Catalonia. They have their own language called Catalan and that means that people of Barcelona are actually bilingual they speak Spanish and Catalan. Besides these two official languages a lot of people also speak English and French.
Barcelona is one of the world's leading tourist economic and cultural centres it is considered to be among the top 5 European cities, attracting more than 30 million visitors.
When visiting famous landmarks it's the best to be prepared for some waiting time. Barcelona is considered to be safe but despite obvious City police presence everywhere pickpockets are the main safety issue in Barcelona.
When looking for hotel or other accommodation in Barcelona there are two main areas I would recommend. You should definitely look for a room close to Barceloneta Beach or in the Gothic quarter famous for narrow winding streets, many restaurants & coffee places, all kind of shops galleries museums and famous La Rambla Street.
Barcelona is considered to be a big city its main attractions are spread around the city so you will need to use some sort of public transport. Barcelona's public transport is considered to be safe good and reliable. From Barcelona Airport you already have several options how to get to the city centre which is 14 kilometers or about 9 miles away.
