من نمی‌دانم قضاوت چیست
اگر می‌خوانم که جرم است

در تن خوش‌سبز این ملک قدیمی
که قدیمی‌تر ز تاریخ است
خواندن از کی می‌تواند جرم باشد؟
که زرتشت با سرود این سرزمین را کاشت
با سرود این سرزمین را

من اگر ماندم برای بچه‌های جنگ
برای مادران حبس‌گریه
گریه را آواز خواهم کرد
گریه را آواز خواهم کرد

من که با تو زن شدم ای زن
صدایم را به تاریخ قرض خواهم داد
و فریاد تو را زن خوان و مرد
ای سرزمین داده، پسر داده
که نخلت را نه خرماست و پرنده
به من رخصت بده ای حبس‌گریه
گریه‌ات را من بخوانم

If my singing is a crime
Then I do not know what judgment is

In this old green land
