Adventure Vlog #34: Colorado Pt. 4 // Mountains // Rivers // Hot Springs // Jerry the Corgi // Colorado Adventures  (May - June 2022)

It was such a joy to car camp and explore some of my favorite towns in Southern Colorado - Salida, Cañon City, Durango, and Pagosa Springs. Each area offering its own unique perspective of Colorado that I love. And I must say, the hot springs are my all time favorite!

Went down the Animas and whitewater park in Durango in a ducky (inflatable  kayak) for the first time! (First time down the Animas was in 2015 in a raft that flipped ha!). Trying out a ducky made me even more excited to learn how to kayak! It is difficult to explain the feeling of being on the water, riding the waves - it's the same feeling I get when riding a horse, or paragliding - pure bliss is a good way to describe it. Love it, love it, love it! Thank you to my friend Aaron and IRR students for coordinating and 4Corner River Sports for providing the equipment!

Of course the majority of my time was spent outside with Jerry, which we both loved. It didn't take long for Jerry to get comfortable swimming. It was so much fun to watch his confidence grow with each swim. The NRS life vest made such a big difference! Shout out to NRS for making great products! (not sponsored). Jerry is an all around happy boy, but man, he gets super stoked to be in the water and it makes my heart and face smile so big :)

I was excited to be so active for the first time in months since getting Covid in January and dealing with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). I have come a long way from 165 heart rate and feeling like passing out whilst lying down, not being able to  shower, walk a block, up the stairs or do simple step ups and lift weights at the gym. I am building strength and stamina one day at a time. Excited that I am able to do way more than I could a couple months ago. I am thankful to be bouncing back even though it was slower than anticipated. It has been wonderful to pace myself and build a foundation for optimum wellness and health. Pretty soon I will feel strong enough to go hiking! Although I am thankful for the walks I have been able to go on too. Progress is progress no matter how small or slow it is - gotta start somewhere! Also probably a good idea to work Jerry and I both up to hiking at elevation - we will get there one step at a time today and everyday.

So many fun memories that will be cherished forever. Although, I captured some adventures, I also wanted to enjoy being in the present moment and not be on my phone constantly. But its funny - looking back I think I was still on my phone "capturing" way too much. I really want to focus more on living in the moment and enjoying it rather than thinking I need to capture it all. Perhaps someday I will attempt "vlogging" again. But for now, I am simply sharing some snippets here and there. Thank you for watching and following along on my adventures, and for all the love and support!

Cheers to loving + living life to the fullest and all the adventures to come!

All the best and love,

Lauren
