LeSourdsville Lake Amusement Park, later Americana, began with Middletown resident Edgar Streifthau's desire to turn the former ice ponds and manufacturing facility along the Miami and Erie Canal into a place where residents could swim and have picnics Park construction began in 1921, and the park opened on May 8, 1922. Admission was 10 cents. This was a LeSourdsville / Americana amusement Park located on the Miami Erie Canal that ran along the CSX railroad tracks in this video. This lake themed amusement park was formed around the ice harvesting shallow lakes along the Miami and Erie Canal North of Hamilton Ohio, south of Middletown Ohio. The ice was harvested and shipped by canal boat too many of the breweries and businesses north and south on the Miami and Erie Canal. Most of this park was water all though very shallow and has been drained, you can still The ice pond depressions if you look hard enough.
