De acuerdo con la producción de Gato Grande y MGM, Suave nació luego de que Luis Miguel y Kiko Cibrián superaran un desencuentro que también involucró a Cristian Castro. En la serie, el cantante despidió al guitarrista tras enterarse de que trabajó previamente con su rival, pero luego le pidió perdón por su exabrupto, en parte gracias a la intervención de Álex McCluskey, uno de sus representantes.
Cuando retomaron su relación profesional, Luis Miguel le encargó la producción de Aries y le solicitó que le compusiera algunas canciones que “muevan masas”, pero que mantengan el espíritu de Romance (1992) y tengan algo de R&B.
Poco después, Kiko Cibrián regresó con Suave, un tema que compuso junto con Orlando Castro, quien también trabajó con el hijo de Verónica Castro, y que cumplió con las expectativas de Luis Miguel y su mánager Hugo López. Se convirtió en la respuesta del Sol al éxito que experimentaba Cristian Castro en la misma época, principalmente por No podrás.

According to the production by Gato Grande and MGM, "Suave" was born after Luis Miguel and Kiko Cibrián resolved a disagreement that also involved Cristian Castro. In the series, the singer fired the guitarist after learning that he had previously worked with his rival, but later apologized for his outburst, in part thanks to the intervention of Álex McCluskey, one of his representatives.
